Basic obedience is key, no doubt. I’ve had cockers in the past, brilliant dogs, but start with the basics. Recall’s gotta be solid before anything else. Forget about the fancy stuff till you got that down.

Gotta say, the part about Signs of Digestive Distress was spot on. Never realized how subtle some of the signs can be. Gonna keep a closer eye on my friend’s Cocker now. Just wish more people knew how to spot these early warning signs. Great read.

Really appreciated the section on Dietary Needs and Recommendations, Jodie. It’s good to have a clear guide on what’s best to feed our Cocker Spaniels, considering their unique needs. Hey Jodie, I loved the bit about the hunting instincts and drive. Do you think starting with basic scent games at home could help sharpen my spaniel’s natural instincts before I take him into the field? Not sure if I should start there or dive straight into more structured training outdoors.

Reading about the progressive retinal atrophy made me think back to my childhood dog, Rufus. He had something similar in his later years, and back then, we didn’t have much information on how to help him. It’s comforting to see articles like this raising awareness. Makes me wish we had access to this kind of advice back in the day. I remember Rufus bumping into furniture as his sight worsened, which was heartbreaking. Now, with my current Cocker, Daisy, I’m on high alert for any signs of eye issues. Thanks for the insightful article.
